Intrinsic decoherence for the displaced harmonic oscillator

چکیده

By using the complete solution of Milburn equation (beyond Lindblad form that it is generally used) describes intrinsic decoherence, we study decaying dynamics a displaced harmonic oscillator. We calculate expectation values position quadrature, and number operator in initial coherent squeezed states.

Quantum Decoherence of the Damped Harmonic Oscillator

In the framework of the Lindblad theory for open quantum systems, we determine the degree of quantum decoherence of a harmonic oscillator interacting with a thermal bath. It is found that the system manifests a quantum de-coherence which is more and more significant in time. We also calculate the decoherence time and show that it has the same scale as the time after which thermal fluctuations b...

The Forced Harmonic Oscillator, Decoherence, and Schrödinger Cat States

The harmonic oscillator is a very significant problem in quantum mechanics, because it is one of the very few, relatively non-trivial problems that has an exact analytic solution. In addition to this, the harmonic oscillator solution and algebraic formalism has applications throughout modern physics (e.g. many particle systems, QED, quantum field theory, approximations of real systems such as m...

Environmental decoherence versus intrinsic decoherence.

We review the difference between standard environmental decoherence and 'intrinsic decoherence', which is taken to be an ineluctable process of Nature. Environmental decoherence is typically modelled by spin bath or oscillator modes-we review some of the unanswered questions not captured by these models, and also the application of them to experiments. Finally, a sketch is given of a new theore...

Quantum decoherence and classical correlations of the harmonic oscillator in the Lindblad theory

In the framework of the Lindblad theory for open quantum systems we determine the degree of quantum decoherence and classical correlations of a harmonic oscillator interacting with a thermal bath. The transition from quantum to classical behaviour of the considered system is analyzed and it is shown that the classicality takes place during a finite interval of time. We calculate also the decohe...
